Lego + Firefly = Awesome Shiny-ness

I know I’m really late with this one, but I don’t care, I’m sharing it because it’s absolutely amazing and deserves as much attention as possible. I am of course referring to the seven foot long Lego recreation of Serenity from Joss Whedon’s Sci-fi Western series, Firefly.

It’s to scale with the Lego minifigs, and has a light-up cargo bay and engine, and is an accurate recreation – internally as well as externally. The only area inside not included is the engine room, and it was too heavy and made the model collapse under its own weight, which should give you some idea of how much this thing weighs!

Inara’s shuttle detaches, the engines rotate, and the cargo bay door opens, which is more functionality than I ever included in any Lego model I ever built.

Check out the proud builders site here (it’s all in French), and a photoset over on Flikr.

And then bask in its glory.
