The Great Jedi Quote Post.

I love the Jedi – in fact, I identify as Jedi in a religious sense. Aside from the cool swishy robes and – obviously – lightsabers, one of the things I love most about them is their outlook on life. The Jedi Code is a pretty good one to live by, and some of the quotes attributed to various Jedi are pretty deep.

So, I’m attempting (in what will probably be an ongoing project) to catalogue the best Jedi quotes, from all incarnations of them (canon ones at least), in one place, both for my reference, and for others, because you can never find that one quote you half-remember when you need it! If you have any suggestions for the list, drop us a mail or post in the comments, making sure to state the Jedi responsible, and if possible where it’s from – the ones we like will be added to our own little web holocron of Jedi wisdom!

Master Yoda

Grandmaster Yoda:

“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” (Episode III: Revenge of the Sith)

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” (Episode I: The Phantom Menace)

“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.”

“Do, or do not. There is no try” (Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back)

“To be Jedi is to face the truth, and choose. Give off light, or darkness, Padawan. Be a candle, or the night.” (Dark Rendezvous)

“When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.”

Obi-wan kenobi

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi:

“Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view” (Episode VI: Return of the Jedi)

A great leap forward often requires first taking two steps back.” (Clone Wars: Mystery of a Thousand Moons)

Missions are not about winning and losing. They are about leaving good behind. (Jedi Apprentice Special Edition: Deceptions)

Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker:

“If you don’t crash once in a while, you’re probably not in the fight” (Hero of the Confederacy)

Jedi Knight Luminara Unduli

Jedi Knight Luminara Unduli:

“When the way before you is not clear, let your actions be guided by the Force.”

“One can fail at a task but still learn the lesson.” (Medstar 1: Battle Surgeons)

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn:

“Keep your concentration here and now, where it belongs.” (Episode I: The Phantom Menace)

“The ability to speak does not make you intelligent” (Episode I: The Phantom Menace)

“Life does not treat you fairly or unfairly, it merely is. It is up to each of us to be fair, or unfair

Jedi Master Luke Skywalker:

Del Meeko: You’re telling me the man who destroyed the Jedi Order is secretly one of them?

Luke Skywalker: No. I’m telling you that as a boy on Coruscant you were frightened of the wrong thing.

A different take on the Star Wars prequels…

OK, so we all know the prequels… weren’t as good as the original trilogy (even though I really like the clones!). But what if we’re viewing them all wrong? What if they’re not a story showing a hero’s tragic fall from grace, but story shown from the viewpoint of that hero, with his own bias and misunderstandings seamlessly transposed onto the events and people transpiring around him? That’s exactly what a very clever (or very deluded) commenter – abbotabbotsmith -over at Topless Robot suggests…

Book Review: Star Wars – Red Harvest by Joe Schreiber

When I read Death Troopers late last year, I had to jump on here almost immediately after I finished the book to review it, because I really loved it. So when I was scouting around for some new books to read the other week and I saw Red Harvest, the prequel to Death Troopers, written by the same chap, I bought it immediately, and once I’d finished one of the books I was reading at the time, I hungrily set to work devouring this instalment of zombies in Star Wars.

Unfortunately in the final analysis I was disappointed. Spoilers after the jump – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This video has made my day.

It’s uncanny how well the moves match up with the music. And this new song is far less irritating than the original!

Made by a chap named TheBaglee on YouTube, and pointed out to me by Martin.

I saw this on Lolcats and I had to share it on here. Sorry for the short blog post but everything else I’m going to be writing about is quite long and I haven’t had time to sit down and write it but I promise there will be more soon.
